Montreal band Corridor returns with their fourth album, Mimi, with a sound and style broader and more expansive than anything that came before. Although these eight songs reflect a new and contemplative maturity, Corridor diversifies more than ever with rich and detailed music, which feels like a new step for a band that has already established itself as a band of avant-garde. Mimi immediately recalls the best of the best in indie rock – the metallic atmospheres of Deerhunter, as well as the effervescence of classic post-punk – but despite these easy comparisons, Corridor remains impossible to pin down from a song to the other, which makes listening to Mimi all the more exciting.
