Vangelis' music score to the 1992 film 1492: Conquest of Paradise is to be reissued on vinyl for the first time since its original release.
Director Ridley Scott, who created a compelling vision of the future in āBlade Runnerā and a controversial glimpse of the present in āThelma & Louiseā, took a journey into the distant past with the film ā1492ā which reveals the provocative story of one of the most mysterious figures in history, Christopher Colombus. It also tells one of the greatest adventure stories of the last 500 years.
The 1492: Conquest of Paradise album won Vangelis an Echo Award for International Artist of the Year and an RTL Golden Lion Award for the Best Title Theme for a TV Film or Series in 1996. The album had also been nominated for Best Original Score - Motion Picture at the 50th Golden Globe Awards in 1993.
The accompanying CD reissue includes two bonus tracks: "Line Open" and "Landscape." A cinematic and emotional composition, 1492 features the iconic title theme "Conquest of Paradise," which went on to chart internationally and became one of Vangelis' most recognisable pieces.
