Transmission Impossible Rare Radio Broadcasts From The 1980s

TRIPLE DISC BOX SET OF LIVE RAINBOW BROADCAST RECORDINGSS 1980 – 1982
Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow formed in 1975 following Blackmore’s departure from Deep Purple. Originally established with Ronnie James Dio as frontman and vocalist – previously with the rock-band Elf - Rainbow recorded three studio albums with Dio, before he left the band to join Black Sabbath in 1979.
Rainbow's early work primarily featured mystical lyrics with a neoclassical metal style, then went in a more pop-rock oriented direction following Dio's departure. Three British musicians joined in 1979 - singer Graham Bonnet, keyboardist Don Airey and then-former Deep Purple bassist Roger Glover - and this line-up gave the band their commercial breakthrough with the single ‘Since You Been Gone’ from their fourth album. The band continued their success in the early 1980s, with their next three albums. After breaking up in 1984, Blackmore reformed Rainbow in 1993 with a new line-up, which recorded their eighth and, to date, last studio album.
This new 3-CD collection brings together previously unreleased live recordings made during Rainbow’s glory days, all of which come from FM Radio broadcasts transmitted between 1980 and 1983.
Fist up, DISC ONE houses the band’s superb show in Tokyo, Japan on 9th May, 1980, recorded at the famous Buddokan venue.
For DISC TWO, we come forward a year, and feature their dynamic show recorded at the Orpheum Theatre in Boston on May 7th 1981.
The set concludes on DISC THREE with Rainbow’s dynamic show recorded at the convention centre in San Antonio, Texas, on August 18th 1982, shortly after the group released the penultimate album prior to their original split, April ‘82’s Straight Between The Eyes.
