The Passionate Friends (1949)
The accidental meeting of two one-time passionate friends nearly causes the total disruption of a marriage, until the husband realises the truth.

Madeleine (1950)
During the nineteenth century, a young woman named Madeleine embarks on a secret affair with a penniless Frenchman.

The Sound Barrier (1952)
John Ridgefield, pioneer airman and visionary, manufactures jet planes designed to fly faster than sound into a new world. But his daughter, Susan, believing that human life is more important than human progress, condemns her father's aims and endeavors as senseless ambition.

Hobson's Choice (1954)
Harry Hobson, a prosperous provincial bookmaker and widower, has his home and business looked after by his three daughters. While he has allowed his two younger daughters to marry, the eldest, Maggie, must stay and care for him. But Maggie has other ideas and is determined to have her own way.

Summertime (1955)
A highly-strung and lonely American looks for love in Venice. Soon, fantasies of romance become reality when she meets a handsome - but married - Venetian man.
