"Johnny Handsome", a severely-deformed petty criminal, is double-crossed in a robbery and left to take the rap on his own. The prison doctor believes plastic surgery will lead Johnny on the path to reform, but when released, Johnny's potential fresh start in life is hampered by a desire for revenge.
